Welcome to Year Five
Sharing our learning with the WHOLE world!
This week in KS1 & KS2 it's International Arts Week. Each class has been given a continent and their art work will be related to wildlife from that part of the world. Here in Year 5 we're looking at North America.
To give our maths work today an artistic twist, we looked at cartioid patterns and then created our own:
We also began our work for our whole of Primary School piece of art - we have all drawn our own picture of a N.American plant (we have lots of cactii!), but we were only allowed to use the colour blue - each class has their own colour and the final pieces will be displayed in a rainbow of colours on Friday!
Friday was finally launch day for our rockets - they were amazing! Well done to Nadia and Laurent - they were a tie for the longest flights! 65 metres - brilliant!
Here's our next group of movie trailers by Red, Gun, Dragon & Daan. You can also watch the original short movie in this post too!
And the original short movie...
Here are some more of our brilliant movie trailers!
Over the last few weeks we've been working on persuasive writing and now we've used these skills to create trailers for the short move, The Piano - here are the first ones that are completed!
This term we are learning about coding using the website code.org
The children have learnt to build simple algorithms (sequences of instructions) and are now moving onto more complex commands, such as using loop commands. I think they're all a bit addicted to code.org! They are showing great critical thinking skills!
